What we do
After a tree is removed, the stump remains - taking up space, attracting pests, and making it impossible to use the area for anything else. Our stump grinder can remove stumps of any size, grinding well below ground level so the area can be re-turfed, planted or paved immediately. We work cleanly, containing wood chippings and leaving the site tidy.
Stump grinding
Industrial stump grinder reduces stumps to wood chips 200-300mm below ground level.
Full removal
We dig out and remove the stump and major roots where grinding isn't suitable.
Root grinding
Surface roots are ground out to allow re-turfing or planting over the area.
Site restoration
We backfill the hole with soil and chippings so you can replant or re-seed immediately.
Pricing note: Stump grinding typically costs €50-€200 depending on stump diameter; full excavation costs more due to the extra labour involved. We'll confirm exact pricing on-site, free of charge.

Frequently asked
- How far below ground do you grind the stump?
- Typically 15-30cm below the surface, enough to allow replanting, turfing or paving.
- Can I replant straight over the area?
- Yes, once the ground has settled, usually within a week or two.
- What happens to the wood chip from grinding?
- We can leave it for you to use as mulch, or remove it - your choice.
- Do you remove the roots too?
- Grinding removes the stump and major surface roots; deeper roots are left to decompose naturally.
- Can you grind stumps in tight or awkward spaces?
- Yes, we have both large and compact grinding equipment for restricted access.
- Is stump removal needed after every tree removal?
- Not always - some customers choose to leave the stump, but removal is recommended if you plan to replant or pave.
